Project in ‘Stitch’ magazine

There is a project of mine in the next issue of ‘Stitch’( no 63) due out on the 22nd Jan.  It features an autumn landscape based on the rolling Northumberland landscape.  It uses dupion silk and appliqué techniques and is a new departure from my usual painted and machine embroidered work.

NB I have used the ‘aquabond’ fabric from Art Van Go and the ‘Aquatics Bond’ from Barnyarns and have found the Aquatics Bond easier to use as it is a muslin-like fabric and not as sticky as the ‘aquabond’ from Art Van Go.  Barnyarns website is

Embroidered Landscapes Class  Sat April 17th

This will take place in Kirkwhelpington Village Hall which is a pleasant comfortable place to work with parking nearby . This is using my usual techniques of a painted background on calico with machine and hand embroidery.

Although some experience in basic machine embroidery is helpful it is not essential.  You will need a sewing machine where you can lower the feed dog (see instructions on darn) and a sprung darning foot.  A full list of requirements will be sent when you apply for the class, together with a receipt.

The class will run from 10am-4pm. and will cost £30.

It includes tea coffee and biscuits but please bring a packed lunch. I am limiting the class to ten students so early application is advisable if you want to be sure of a place.

How to book

This can be done by post or email or phone. (tel 01830 540393)  Send your name address including postcode and Tel no and enclose a cheque made out to Anne Kinniment. Please enclose a sae for receipt and class requirements
